The South Valley area is located just a short drive south of Steamboat Springs. It includes Highway 131’s surrounding areas, including Country Green, Steamboat Pines, Big Valley Ranch, Catamount Ranch, Lake Catamount, Priest Creek Ranch and Alpine Mountain Ranch. Here you can find large acreage homes, small subdivisions and land preservation subdivisions. Overall, most properties in the South Valley are single-family homes on acreage with country feel. Some of the characteristics are high end developments, low-density living, large lots, specific zoning regulations in order to leave open space for wildlife preserve, panoramic views of the ski mountain.
This area has two golf courses; Catamount (private), and Haymaker (public).
