Golfing in Steamboat Springs – When you think of golfing, places like Florida and California may come to mind, but for a small mountain town, Steamboat Springs offers lots of options for this fun hobby and pastime. Boasting 4 different golf courses and clubs, Steamboat offers year round fun at these locations all within the city limits or a short drive out of town.

Haymaker Golf Course
A 233- acre public golf course located in the lush green valley of the Yampa River, Haymaker Golf Course, has snow-capped Mount Werner as a backdrop and the spectacular Flat Top mountain range in the distance. This link-style course is laid out with native grasses and wetlands to enhance the wide -open fairways, providing a home for elk, blue herons, and deer alike.

Audubon Signature Status Certification
Designed by Keith Foster, Haymaker is a championship caliber course shaped to fit the contours of the surrounding landscape. Working closely with the Audubon Society’s Signature Status Program, Haymaker Golf Course is the first course in Colorado to achieve Audubon Signature Status certification.

Through this Signature Program, Audubon International (AI) works closely with the planning, technical, and education services of developments to help ensue the protection of natural resources both on and off site. AI worked with Haymaker Golf Course and Foster to design a course that ensured biodiversity conservation, environmental quality, and sustainable resource management. In this way, Haymaker was able to protect the environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf.

Already in their 20th year, Haymaker is re-certified for the AI program every year.

Golf Activities at Haymaker Golf Course
In addition to offering tee times, golf clinics, access to golf pros, Haymaker also has a men’s league, a women’s league, and a junior golf academy. During the colder months when snow blankets the region, Haymaker Golf Course, uses the area for skate skiing and cross country skiing.

Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club- Sheraton Steamboat Resort
Named as one of the top 10 golf resorts in Colorado, by Colorado Golf Magazine, Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club is a spectacular 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones II. With incredible views of the Yampa Valley, Fish Creek winds its way through seven of the course holes and offers 70 bunkers and large undulating bent grass greens that make this course enjoyable for players of all skill levels.

One of the Top 100 Golf Courses- According to Fairways Magazine

Fairways Magazine voted Rollingstone Ranch Golf Course one of the top 100 best golf courses. In addition to golf outings for groups, tournaments, and golf instruction with the club pros, Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club also offers a variety of membership options to property owners in Routt, Moffat, Jackson, Grand and Eagle counties, including a newly introduced Provisional Membership.

Steamboat Golf Club
Since its establishment in 1964, The Steamboat Golf Club has been a long-standing treasure in the Yampa Valley. The Club offers generous fairways, small target greens, and challenging shots in a family-oriented and affordable setting.

Family-Oriented Golf Course
Open to the public and host to an active social calendar, the Steamboat Golf Club has 100 members/owners and plays an integral part in the local community. The Club offers free warm up cages and a chipping and putting green onsite. The 9-hole course borders the Yampa River and features beautiful, sweeping views of the valley and Steamboat ski resort. Estimated playing time is typically 2 hours or less and when you’re done, you can grab a snack or beverage at the scenic creekside deck.

The Club offers both a men’s golf club and a ladies golf club, with weekly “friendly” games open to all skill levels from the novice to more pro golfer. Additionally, the Club offers pricing on a sliding scale from Youth Golfer (12 and under) to Junior Golfer (17 and under) all the way up to member and adult.

Catamount Ranch & Club
At Catamount, many of the best outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer are combined into one location. Yampa Valley Land Trust Preserves Catamount’s Club Lands
To preserve the natural beauty of the scenic landscape, Catamount Ranch & Club, has established a series of conservation easements and placed 4,000 acres into the Yampa Valley Land Trust so that the land can be used for wildlife and ranching for generations to come.

Membership at Catamount Ranch & Club is geared towards families who want to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities all year long- from swimming, golfing, fishing, and boating to winter horseback riding. Environmentally Sensitive Design
Spanning alpine meadows, this course is nestled along Steamboat’s mountainous peaks for a par 72- championship course spanning 7,088 acres on land sanctioned by the Audubon Society for its environmentally sensitive design. Full golf facilities include: a Member’s grille, a full service restaurant, a golf shop and the clubhouse where Members can relax and enjoy the views from the deck. “We started with a working ranch in a spectacular setting and created a course of uncommon distinction, “ said Tom Weiskopf.
